Excellent Restraint July 28, 2010 Thomas Kerr (New York City (Pod town USA)) Got this for our 30 lb female Beagle mix. Took a minute to figure out just how it goes onto her body the first time out, but once understood, the fit was good and subsequent uses are a breeze. Our dog doesn't mind it a bit, she is kind of high energy, but well behaved, so initially we were a bit concerned she might hate the limits to her movement. As it turned out, she liked it and is safer. The Solvit pet safety harness provides inexpensive peace of mind for those who understand the physics of auto crashes and want the best for their pooch.
Great protection for those we love... May 10, 2010 E. Asfahl (Arkansas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've always seatbelted my boys. I have two English Springer Spaniels, both right around 50 pounds. I need to know my boys are safe in the back seat so I don't have to keep looking over my shoulder to check on them, especially when the back windows are down. Before I restrained my boys in the backseat I realized how unsafe of a driver I was because I was sometimes paying more attention to the pups in the backseat than the road ahead. Not only that, if there were to be an accident I feel much better now knowing that they will not become dangerous projectiles.
We've had a few different brands in the past but these are definitely some of the best-made restraints for the price. I like the padding up front on the chest so it doesn't cut in under their arms.
I got mediums for both my boys. However they are almost too small. My guy who's around 52 pounds only has about 3/8" of strap outside the buckets which kind of worries me. I just have to check it each time we "truck up." The only other thing is I wish it had a few more buckles instead of the slip rings so I didn't need to put it on over their head. The neck area needs to fit well but I have to make the straps longer to get it over their heads, then readjust the straps when in place. That area adjusts with slip rings which aren't very easy to adjust when the restraint is already on the dog.
CHOKING HAZARD! May 4, 2010 SOMEWHERE IN TIME (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
THIS ALMOST KILLED MY DOG! THERE IS WAAAAAY TO LONG OF THE THING YOU ATTACH TO THE HARNESS AND YOUR CAR SEAT BELT!!! ITS INSANE. DIDNT HOLD HER IN AT ALL. SHE TRIED TO JUMP DOWN BUT DIDNT MAKE TO THE FLOOR THE CHAIN WAS MAKING HER HANG BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE FLOOR! WE ADJUSTED IT AS TIGHT AS WE COULD AND IT STILL HAD TO LONG OF A LEASH. WAS FRIGHTENING WE HAD TO QUICK PULL OVER AND DETACH HER! DO NOT BUY THIS ITS VERY UNSAFE!
Seems like a nice device but havnt tested it in an accident May 2, 2010 Jim Fitzmorris I always felt guilty that I didnt have some kind of restraint for my dog since I am very seatbelt concious. I found this to be very affordable and it seems like it would do the job if I had gotten into an accident. I hope it would work okay....

This did not work for my dog so I returned it. I have not received my credit yet. My dog got tangled up in it every time he tried to move and didn't like it at all.
